The beginning of adventures

Ashley here!
Skyler entered the Provo Missionary Training Center (MTC) this morning. He sends his appreciation for everyone's support. He would also love to hear from anyone that would like to write him while in the MTC and in a few weeks when he gets to Italy!

You can find current address in the right side column of the blog. You can use www.DearElder.com to write him-- they make it extremely easy! You don't even have to pay postage, and it gets there VERY quickly.
OR if you leave him a Facebook message, I can personally forward it to him.
Thank you, guys (and gals!)!

  1. Hi, I am the mother of Skyler's companion at the MTC, Craig Jones. I happen to be doing a blog for Craig, and yesterday I did a search to see if I could find a blog for his companion. That's how I found you. It sounds like the boys are in a fantastic district and are having fun and working hard together. You may have already heard from McKenzie Driscoll, who is the sister of one of their roommates, Anziano Smith. She is also doing a blog for her brother, and I was able to learn more about what's going on with Craig by reading his blog since he and Craig wrote about different things. I already put a link to Skyler's blog in the sidebar of Craig's so that we will have easy access to it. Here is the link to Craig's if you want to see it: http://eldercraigjones.wordpress.com/
We'll have to keep in touch!

    1. Laura,
It's so nice to meet you (via the web, of course)! A funny thing happened, actually. The day before Skyler entered the MTC I was looking online for information about the LDS Italy Rome Mission and Craig's blog came up. We learned that he was entering the MTC the same day and read about someone else preparing to go to the same place. Then we found out they were companions! Maybe a small comfort about seeing a familiar face in such a unfamiliar place, I don't know, but it was so fun! It's also been neat to read more about the boys and their adventures from Craig.
I haven't seen Elder Smith's blog yet, but we will have to see if we can find it.
Thank you for writing! We will definitely have to keep in touch! :)

  2. Yes, that's funny about you finding Craig's blog before you knew they were going to be companions. I sure do miss Craig. He's my only son, so this is my first and only time to experience being a missionary mom, and it's harder than I thought it would be. But I'm glad he has Skyler as his companion and that they are with such a great group of guys. If you haven't already read Elder Smith's first e-mail, you should check it out because he wrote a little bit about all of the boys in their room. I was matching up the descriptions of each one with the picture on there of all of them in a classroom, and it helped me to feel like I know them a little bit, even though I don't.

  4. I have tried twice to post a reply to you, with no success (I am just not techie enough). Have you heard of the LDS Missionary Moms email group? It is a group of mom with children currently serving missions and there is a subgroup specific for the Italy missions. If you are a member, please send out an email and I will reply with my personal contact information so we can visit. If you are not a member, please consider joining as there is an amazing amount of valuable information that the mothers share with each other and I am finding it to be a wonderful support avenue.
